Founded in 1975, The International Preparatory School is a small international school located on beautiful grounds in the foothills of the Andes in Santiago, Chile. The International Preparatory School provides a distinguished education for children from 3 to 19 years old, beginning in Playgroup and continuing to Year 13 (Grade 12), in personalized classes of no more than 15 students. With its Cambridge-based curriculum, full English instruction, nurturing atmosphere and dedicated staff, The International Preparatory School offers the individual care and attention that allow children of all ages and abilities to thrive. The school year runs fromΒ March to mid-DecemberΒ and is divided into two semesters. An optional Summer School programme is available in January. There are three weeks ofΒ winter vacation in JulyΒ and one week in September for the Chilean National Holidays.

⏰🏫 The School Day

The school day begins at 9:00 and ends at 14:15 for Early Years students. Year 1 students and above at 16:25. There are one hour sessions of extracurricular activities in the afternoons from 16:30 to 17:30.

The International Preparatory School is recognised as a Centre for Cambridge International Examinations. As such, the school is authorized to administer the International Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and AS & A Levels, which are accepted for admission to over 2,100 universities in 100+ countries.

πŸ‘πŸ€ U.S. State Department and British Council

Regularly inspected by representatives of the U.S. State Department for its inclusion on the list of approved school for U.S. government employees and contractors. The school has also been approved for the same purposes by the British Council.

The International Preparatory School is accredited by the Chilean Ministry of Education through Year 9 (Grade 8).

πŸ“ˆπŸ“ Progress Reports

There are two progress reports during the year, one at the end of each semester. Parent-Teacher meetings are scheduled at least twice a year and either parent or teacher may ask for special meetings if they feel it necessary.

🎨⚽ Extracurricular Activities

In addition to their regular classes, students may participate in a variety of extracurricular activities in the afternoons. These include tennis, 3D Printing, football (soccer), basketball, karate, music, and others.

The house system is intended to promote greater integration among students of all ages and cultural backgrounds, to develop the dynamics of school spirit and to encourage cooperation and teamwork. It’s intended to develop qualities of leadership, especially among older students, who organize many activities for their houses. Each house is made up of students from different classes, from Pre-Kinder to Senior School.
